Total Cost of Ownership
MoneyWorks has a low total cost of ownership, possibly the lowest in the industry.
There is no monthly or annual support plan available for MoneyWorks products, as it is just not necessary personalised (support is available though, see below).
There have only been four major version upgrades since MoneyWorks was first released in 1992. (MoneyWorks current version is 5). MYOB on the other hand is on Version 19.
Thus the two major costs of accounting software packages - prepaid "support" plans and an artificial upgrade cycle - are eliminated.
To be fair however, if you have a need for a payroll module (and only if you have a need) then have a look at SmoothPay/Gold annual charges also below. Even then the combined costs are far lower:

Cost of ownership goes further than this. Most people find MoneyWorks easier to learn than other systems (lower training costs);transaction entry tends to be faster in MoneyWorks (less time using); multi-user networking is considerably faster (less time wasted by users); day-to-day operations (such as importing data) is much faster; accountants tell us that audit trails and enquiry screens in MoneyWorks makes end of year processing significantly faster for most clients (lower accounting costs). There is also the intangible savings from better, faster information through better, more flexible reporting and information processing that MoneyWorks offers.

MoneyWorks users can use a support line and only pay for the support that they actually use.
